The Obamas Are Back: Obama.org Relaunches Site, Will Work With FLOTUS

Former President Obama relaunched his website, Obama.org, on Thursday and by the looks of it, he and former First Lady Michelle Obama are set to work together to fight the powers that be (my interpretation).

In addition to a short video taking the most rousing parts of his final address as president, and with the words, “We Love You Back,” the site offers up short bios on both Obamas and how to contact them for press or speaking engagements.

In the “About” section, it reads: “As President Obama has said, the change we seek will take longer than one term or one presidency. Real change—big change—takes many years and requires each generation to embrace the obligations and opportunities that come with the title of Citizen.

And so we are heartened to know that they seek to be a part of this big change. If nothing else, we need them out here showing us what dignity, class, maturity and love of country truly looks like.

Cowboys celebrate ’92 title on anniversary of Jones purchase

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson reunited Saturday night to celebrate their first Super Bowl-winning team on the 28th anniversary of the day Jones bought the team, fired Tom Landry and hired his former Arkansas teammate as coach.

The reunion of the 1992 team, pitched as a 25th anniversary celebration, was engineered by quarterback Troy Aikman, who was joined by all-time NFL rushing leader Emmitt Smith and receiver Michael Irvin. The so-called “Triplets” won three titles in four years on their way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Jones and Johnson shrugged off their bitter split after winning a second consecutive Super Bowl following the 1993 season, exchanging compliments in interviews and warm handshakes before festivities at a nightclub near downtown Dallas.

Five Dallas Hall of Famers — Aikman, Smith, Irvin, quarterback Roger Staubach and running back Tony Dorsett — presented Jones with a painting depicting him in the hall’s bright yellow jacket. Jones was elected this month and will be inducted in August.

Donald Trump press ban: BBC, CNN and Guardian denied access to briefing

The White House barred several news organizations from an off-camera press briefing on Friday, handpicking a select group of reporters that included a number of conservative outlets friendly toward Donald Trump.

The “gaggle” with Sean Spicer, the White House press secretary, took place in lieu of his daily briefing and was originally scheduled as an on-camera event.

Homemade Baking Soda Facial Scrub

Baking soda is likely one of the most versatile items found in your pantry. Added to water, you can make a powerful cleaning paste. You can use it in place of your regular shampoo for cleaner hair. You might even mix it with vinegar for a child’s science project. But your baking soda can also prove to be an effective facial scrub that costs only pennies to make. Skip the pricey department store exfoliating creams and try something that’s more natural and just as effective at removing dirt, oil and dead skin cells from your face.

Homemade Baking Soda Facial Scrub

Dampen your skin by splashing warm water onto your face with your hands. Pump a quarter-sized dollop of your favorite facial cleanser into the palm of your hand. If you don’t use a liquid facial cleanser, work up a good lather from a bar of gentle soap into your hand. It’s important to have a creamy cleanser base as the carrier for your baking soda facial scrub.

Step 2

Homemade Baking Soda Facial Scrub
Pour a teaspoon of baking soda into your hand and mix well to combine with your facial cleanser.

Step 3

Homemade Baking Soda Facial Scrub

Massage the cleanser and baking soda onto your skin in circular motions, concentrating especially on areas where you may suffer from dry or dead skin, like around the nose, chin and forehead. Take care not to rub too hard, as some may find that baking soda can be irritating. If the baking soda scrub stings, rinse off immediately. Otherwise, rub for 30 seconds.

Step 4

Homemade Baking Soda Facial Scrub

Rinse the baking soda scrub away after 30 seconds. Avoid leaving the scrub on your skin for longer, as prolonged exposure to sodium bicarbonate, also known as baking soda, can cause irritation, especially for those with sensitive skin.

Step 5

Homemade Baking Soda Facial Scrub

Use the baking soda facial scrub once a week as part of your skin cleansing regimen.

Shawn “Jay Z” Carter, already a history maker, has another accomplishment under his belt: He is the first rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Billboard reported that the rapper was announced with other inductees for the Songwriters Hall of Fame, including Max Martin, who has produced hits for Britney Spears, Katy Perry and the Backstreet Boys, among others, as well as Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds; Motown founder Berry Gordy; Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, who produced records for Janet Jackson and New Edition; and Chicago members Robert Lamm, James Pankow and Peter Cetera.

CBS News reported that Nile Rodgers announced the 2017 Hall of Fame class Wednesday.

“He has changed the way we listen to music,” Rodgers said in interview with “CBS This Morning.”

Jay Z is already a record-setter as the solo artist with the most No. 1 albums on the Billboard chart.

Hall co-chairs Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff and president Linda Moran issued a statement about the inductees:

With our 2017 roster of inductees, the Songwriters Hall of Fame moves definitively into recognizing music creators of the 21st century while continuing to honor the greats of earlier decades. The combination of contemporary sounds and timeless hits of the past is certain to make for an unforgettable evening. The songwriters we honor cross genre, regional and even national boundaries — R&B, rap, pop and rock ‘n’ roll from both coasts, the American heartland and Sweden. We are thrilled to once more have the opportunity to preside over an event that recognizes the convergence of song craft and musical performance at the very highest level.

Moran told The New York Times that Jay Z was “so over the moon” about the news and that he had been previously considered for induction last year, but “our board and community wasn’t ready. This year we felt that they had been educated enough.”

The rapper’s streaming service, Tidal, offered congratulations on Twitter.

Jay Z and the other 2017 inductees will be honored June 15 at the 48th Annual Induction and Awards Dinner. They join past inductees including John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Gay.

SPMG MEDIA:  Thanks for taking the time to speak with us, Rashunda!  Tell us, what was the inspiration for the theme of this conference – ‘Power & Purpose’?

RASHUNDA RENE: We wanted a theme that would resonate with people. We wanted people from all walks of life to feel that they could receive value from this conference. It is our desire for  people to ~Unleash their Power and Live their Purpose ~

SPMG MEDIA: How did your relationship with South LA Saves get started?

RASHUNDA RENE: South LA Saves is a program under the umbrella of my nonprofit, C.U.S.P. Inc. We wanted a financial wellness program that was all inclusive, not solely for our Single Parent market that we serve through other C.U.S.P. Inc programs. South LA Saves allows us to reach more people and have a bigger impact on our community.

SPMG MEDIA: You have an impressive list of panelist for this conference. Tell us how this selection came about?

RASHUNDA RENE: We wanted this conference to really empower the audience in a Holistic way. We didn’t want it to be just a “Financial Conference”. Yes, we have a unnamed-1dynamic speaker, Jarim Person-Lynn who will help us get our money in order, but the rest of our speakers are really there to help us in all the other areas of our life.

We selected Michelle Collins as a speaker because it is her life’s purpose to witness the Divine Magnificence in others and empower them to pursue their own life shift. That in itself is POWER!

We selected Billionaire P.A. because he has a mission to infect over 1 Billion people with Success, Motivation, and Wealth. That is a Powerful PURPOSE!

unnamed-6Kandee Lewis has an incredible story of going from a Corporate Boss to now building a community organization that is truly a Powerhouse!

Restee Collins is the founder of a program that gives a road map to success in the areas of Faith, Family, Finance, and Fitness, which is truly holistic empowerment.

Toushonta Hogan, the Visionary CEO who runs a company whose products can now be found at Target stores across Los Angeles, what else can we say. Toushonta can really shed a light on taking your business to the next level and what it takes to get in a National Retail Store.

We are extremely excited about this lineup and expecting a great event!

SPMG MEDIA: What can attendees expect from this conference?

RASHUNDA RENE: The vision for this event is to Inspire, Motivate, Empower and possibly be life changing for someone. If there are moments of laughter, ah-ha’s, crying, head-nods, and even a few Amen’s, we have done our job! This event will touch on Business, Career, Family, Relationships, Finances and more!

SPMG MEDIA: The conference is in its 4th year. How has the conference made a difference for past attendees?

RASHUNDA RENE: Testimonial from 2016 attendee:

“The South LA Saves event in February of 2016 gave me confidence in myself that I could get out of debt. By actively writing down my pledge goal to pay off my Credit Card bill that was now in the $2.5K ballpark, I felt an overwhelming sense of empowerment. I initiated a few behaviors that have now become habits. As of June 2016, 6-months before the initial time-line that I set, I am overly joyed to have a zero balance for that Credit Card.”                     ~ Alberlynne “Abby” Harris
